Everything you need to build an entire water cycle from home
The lava rocks in your garden lay the foundation and provide drainage for excess water. Their porous surface can store that water for the plants to access later when they need it.
A layer of carbon pellets on top of the lava rocks and beneath the soil will help absorb impurities and bacteria from the air and water and sequester them from your plants.

Next it’s time to dish the dirt! Soil arrives pre-fertilized so all you have to do is layer it on top of the base. The soil will retain and help circulate moisture to prevent plants from drying out.
Each CloudGarden includes String of Turtles, or Peperomia Prostrata, a slow-growing succulent that is native to the rainforests of Brazil. They thrive in high humidity and bright, indirect light – and look like little turtle shells!

Natural driftwood helps create topography and supports your plants as they grow. Make sure to mist the wood when you set up the garden as it will retain and recirculate moisture to the plants.
Pincushion moss, or leucobryum glaucum, produces rhizoids – not roots – in order to anchor to soil, rocks, or wood. Mosses absorb water and nutrients from the air through leaves that are only one cell thick(!) making them right at home in the CloudGarden.

Use your CloudGarden to learn about and observe the Water Cycle – the continuous movement of water below, through, on, and above Earth’s surface. We hope this small scale model will delight, educate, inform, and help inspire stronger connections with our natural world.
